Chicago mayoral candidate Lori Lightfoot announced the endorsement of 32nd Ward Alderman Scott Waguespack. Lightfoot has been surging in the polls in the final weeks of the campaign and earlier this week announced the endorsements of Congresswoman Robin Kelly and former County Clerk David Orr.

“It’s an honor to receive Alderman Scott Waguespack’s endorsement for mayor,” said Lightfoot. “Alderman Waguespack is a progressive champion in City Council and a fighter for working families in the 32nd Ward and across the city. I look forward to joining with Alderman Waguespack in the homestretch of this race and beyond to build an independent, responsive City Hall that works for every Chicagoan.”

“Voters in this city have an enormous opportunity to set a new course and leave the old Chicago way of doing business in the past,” said Waguespack. “While there are other candidates who I have worked with and respect, I feel strongly that Lori Lightfoot is the candidate best suited to move us in the right direction. She is capable and principled, and has the experience the next mayor will need on issues that are critical to our city’s future—from fighting corruption as a federal prosecutor, to leading the way forward on police reform as the chair of the Police Accountability Task Force. I encourage Chicagoans to cast their ballots for Lori Lightfoot on Tuesday.”
