Chicago mayoral candidate Lori Lightfoot released the following statement in response to news that Sterling Bay, the firm behind the Lincoln Yards development, used Ed Burke’s law firm Klafter & Burke to seek property tax cuts.

“The fact that we are just now learning that Sterling Bay used Ed Burke’s law firm Klafter & Burke to seek property tax cuts is yet another reason to stop this project,” said Lightfoot. “This project should not move one step forward under this administration and not without a full vetting to the satisfaction of the community. In addition to other needed information, Sterling Bay must fully disclose the nature of its relationship with Ed Burke, especially in relation to this project.”
