Chicago mayoral candidate Lori Lightfoot received the endorsement of Equality Illinois PAC. Lightfoot, the first LGBTQ+ person to ever make the ballot for mayor of Chicago, has also received the endorsements of LPAC and Victory Fund, two national organizations that support LGBTQ+ candidates.

“I am thrilled to receive the Equality Illinois PAC endorsement,” said Lightfoot. “Equality Illinois has been a key leader in the ongoing fight for LGBTQ+ rights, from lobbying for essential legislation to backing candidates and elected officials who represent our community. There’s much more work to be done to ensure every person in this city and state can live safely as their true and authentic self—and Equality Illinois is leading the way. I am the first-ever LGBTQ+ candidate for mayor of Chicago, so the ongoing fight for LGBTQ+ rights is personal to me. I’m looking forward to joining with Equality Illinois, our diverse LGBTQ+ community, and Chicago voters to make history on February 26th and fight for a more just world in the years to come.”

“The Equality Illinois PAC is proud to endorse Lori Lightfoot for Mayor of Chicago,” said John Litchfield, Chair of the Equality Illinois PAC. “She is blazing an historic trail as the first openly LGBTQ person to run for chief executive of the Windy City. At a time when the Trump Administration is attacking the rights of LGBTQ people, we have the opportunity to keep Chicago moving forward. We believe Lori Lightfoot is the right candidate for the job.”
