Chicago mayoral candidate Lori Lightfoot released the following statement in support of the Jefferson Park accessible and affordable housing complex approved today by City Council.

“I am pleased that City Council approved the mixed-use housing proposed for veterans and people with disabilities in Jefferson Park. I congratulate Alderman John Arena and all those who worked tirelessly to advance this proposal. In Jefferson Park and so many other neighborhoods, rising rents are forcing long-time residents, including veterans and people with disabilities, to leave their communities and even leave Chicago. This development is the exact kind of neighborhood-driven project needed to address the gentrification and housing insecurity that plagues our city.”
